Spammers exploiting trust in shortened URLs

During the middle of last week, junk mail containing the shortened links jumped to two percent of all spam.

Users should install a browser plug-in that turns shortened URLs into long URLs before actually going to a site. To read more about what specific tools you can utilize to prevent and combat, please read the following article by Angela Moscaritolo:

Conficker Warning

Many of our customers have been asking about the Conficker worm, and I thought I’d pass this detailed information to your team as well in the event you also saw the 60 Minutes segment on Sunday evening.

Worried about the Conficker worm striking on April 1st? A few simple steps can protect you.
MAKE CERTAIN DEFINTIONS ARE UPDATED!

Definitions for the latest variant are:
Latest Rapid Release version
March 21, 2009 revision 033
Latest Daily Certified version March 22, 2009 revision 005

On April 1st the Conficker worm will simply start taking more steps to protect itself. After that date, machines infected with the “C” variant of the worm may not be able to get security updates or patches from Microsoft and from many other vendors. The creators of the worm will also start using a communications system that is more difficult for security researchers to interrupt.

For detailed instructions on how to prepare for this worm, please click on the link below to learn about who is at risk and what to do if you are infected.
